Remember it is increased in:

  • Activation of hemostatic & thrombolytic system,
  • Pregnancy,
  • Inflammation,
  • Malignancy,
  • Trauma,
  • Postsurgical rx,
  • Liver disease (decreased clearance), &
  • Heart disease.

Lipemia, elevated TG, elevated bilirubin, elevated renal function, or hemolysis may falsely increase the D-dimer level.
