Remember it is increased in:
- Activation of hemostatic & thrombolytic system,
- Pregnancy,
- Inflammation,
- Malignancy,
- Trauma,
- Postsurgical rx,
- Liver disease (decreased clearance), &
- Heart disease.
Lipemia, elevated TG, elevated
bilirubin, elevated renal function, or
hemolysis may falsely increase the D-dimer level.
